Used forklifts for sale in Melbourne

Our used stock is mostly Toyota counterbalance forklifts from about 1.5t to 3.5t, in LPG, electric and diesel. We also carry a small number of electric reach trucks for warehouse racking, including Toyota, Raymond and BT units from time to time.

Stock changes often. Forklifts come in and go out each week, so the listings are the place to check what’s available right now. Each listing shows the year, model, capacity, mast, lift height, fuel type and attachments, and most show hours and a stock number. Where a listing says “call for price”, ring us and we’ll give you the figure and the current hours.

You can inspect a forklift before you buy. Our Werribee yard is at Unit 2/76 Riverside Ave, Werribee VIC 3030, open Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, with weekends by appointment. Our Epping yard is at 55 Produce Drive, Epping VIC 3076, open Monday to Friday, midnight to 4pm. Call first so we can have the forklift you want to see ready to drive.

Used Toyota forklifts

Toyota is our specialty. Most of what we sell is Toyota, and most of what our service team works on is Toyota too, so we know these machines well and we can source parts for them.

The Toyota models you’ll usually find in our stock include:

  • Toyota 32-8FG series (LPG). The 8FG18 (1.8t), 8FG25 (2.5t) and 8FG30 (3.0t) are common general-purpose counterbalance forklifts for yards, docks and warehouses. The 8FGJ35 is a 3.5t version for heavier loads.
  • Toyota 7FBE and 8FBE (electric). Four-wheel electric counterbalance forklifts, usually 1.8t or 2.0t, often with a container mast. They suit indoor warehouses and container work.
  • Toyota 7FB25 (electric). A 2.5t electric counterbalance forklift for heavier indoor loads.
  • Toyota 62-8FD30 (diesel). A 3.0t diesel forklift for outdoor yards and heavier work.
  • Toyota 6FBRE (electric reach truck). For narrow aisles and higher racking.

Older Toyotas can still be a sound buy. A well-maintained 7FG18 or 32-8FG18 with a known service history is often a sensible choice for a small business that needs a reliable forklift for light, regular work without spending on a newer machine. Newer units with lower hours cost more, but they usually have more working life left in them. If you’re unsure where the trade-off sits for your work, tell us how many hours a week the forklift will run and we’ll talk you through it.

Gas (LPG) vs electric vs diesel forklifts

The fuel type matters as much as the capacity. Here’s how the three compare for the kind of work most Melbourne businesses do.

Gas (LPG) forklifts

LPG forklifts are the all-rounders. They suit yards, loading docks and mixed indoor-outdoor work, and refuelling is a quick bottle swap, so there’s no waiting for a charge. They produce exhaust, so they need good ventilation if they spend a lot of time indoors. Most of our used stock is LPG, mainly Toyota 32-8FG models from 1.5t to 3.5t. See our used LPG forklifts for sale.

Electric forklifts

Electric forklifts are quiet and have no exhaust at the point of use, so they suit indoor warehouses, food storage and other enclosed spaces. They need somewhere to charge and a battery in good condition. The battery is a large part of an electric forklift’s value, so ask about its age and condition before you buy. Our electric stock is mainly Toyota 7FBE and 8FBE counterbalance forklifts, plus electric reach trucks. See our used electric forklifts for sale.

Buying a used electric forklift: the battery

On a used electric forklift, the battery deserves its own check. Ask how old it is, whether it holds a charge through a full shift, and whether the charger and leads come with the forklift. Look at the battery case and terminals for corrosion and the cables for damage. Think about how many hours a day the forklift will run and whether you’ll charge between shifts or overnight. If you’re comparing two similar electric forklifts at a similar price, the one with the better battery is often the better value. We can tell you what we know about the battery on any electric forklift in our stock.

Diesel forklifts

Diesel forklifts suit outdoor work, rougher yard surfaces and heavier, more continuous lifting. They’re not suited to enclosed spaces because of the exhaust. We have diesel stock from time to time, such as the Toyota 62-8FD30 3.0t.

Electric reach trucks

A reach truck is built for narrow aisles and high racking. If your racking is high and your aisles are tight, a reach truck may do the job where a counterbalance forklift can’t. They’re indoor machines and need a smooth, level floor.

Still deciding? Tell us where the forklift will work (indoors, outdoors or both), what the floor is like and how long it runs each day, and we’ll point you to the right fuel type.

Forklift capacities: 1.8t, 2.5t, 3t and up

Capacity is the most important number on a forklift. Match the rated capacity to your heaviest regular load, with some headroom, and check it at your load centre and lift height. Capacity drops as you lift higher, and attachments such as clamps and fork positioners reduce usable capacity too. Check the data plate on the forklift, or ask us to check it for your load.

  • 1.5t to 1.8t. Light pallets, small warehouses, retail backrooms and workshops. A 1.8t forklift is compact and easy to manoeuvre in tighter spaces.
  • 2.0t to 2.5t. The most common general-purpose size. Suits standard pallets, container loading and most warehouse and yard work.
  • 3.0t to 3.5t. Heavier pallets, building materials, steel and timber, and outdoor yards. Bigger and heavier, so check your floor and aisle widths.

Mast type and lift height

A container mast has a lower closed height, so the forklift can drive in and out of shipping containers. A standard mast suits open warehouses and yards. Measure the height of your highest racking beam and allow clearance above it, then check the forklift’s lift height against that figure. Our listings show lift height in millimetres.

Attachments on used forklifts

Many of our used forklifts come with attachments already fitted. Each listing shows what’s on the machine.

  • Fork positioner. Moves the forks in and out from the seat, so the operator can adjust for different pallet widths without getting off. Useful where pallet sizes vary through the day.
  • Clamp. Grips loads that aren’t on pallets, such as cartons, bales or whitegoods. A clamp is a specialist attachment, so make sure it suits your load before you buy.
  • Container mast. Not an attachment as such, but worth checking for. If you unload shipping containers, a container mast is usually what you need.

Remember that attachments add weight at the front of the forklift and reduce its usable capacity. Check the capacity with the attachment fitted, not just the base rating.

What counts as high hours on a used forklift?

Forklift hours are like kilometres on a car. They tell you how much the forklift has worked, but not how well it has been looked after. On our listings you’ll see Toyotas with under 1,000 hours and Toyotas with over 20,000 hours, and both can be the right machine for the right job.

For light, occasional work, an older or higher-hour forklift with a good service history can be good value. For a forklift that will run full shifts every day, a newer, lower-hour machine is usually worth the extra cost. The service history, the condition of the mast, chains, hydraulics and tyres, and the warranty on offer all matter as much as the hour meter.

How buying a used forklift from us works

  1. Tell us what you need. Call 1300 326 654 with your heaviest load, the lift height you need, and where the forklift will work. We’ll suggest forklifts from current stock that fit.
  2. Browse or inspect. Look through the listings on our sales page or the full stock list, then come and see the forklift at our Werribee yard, or our Epping yard (Monday to Friday, midnight to 4pm).
  3. Get a price. We’ll confirm the price + GST, the warranty on that unit and the delivery cost, so you have the full figure up front.
  4. Arrange finance if you need it. Finance is available. Ask us about options when you call.
  5. Delivery. We deliver the forklift to your site across Melbourne and regional Victoria.
  6. Ongoing service. When it’s due, our team can service it on site.

Used forklift prices in Melbourne

These ranges are based on the forklifts listed on our sales page in October 2026. All prices are + GST and vary with year, hours, mast and attachments. Check current stock for today’s prices.

Capacity Type Recent price range (+ GST)
1.5t LPG counterbalance from $6,000
1.2t–2.0t Electric reach truck around $10,000
1.8t–2.0t LPG and electric counterbalance $6,000–$13,500
2.5t LPG and electric counterbalance $10,000–$18,000
3.0t–3.5t LPG and diesel counterbalance $11,000–$18,000

A higher price usually reflects a newer year, lower hours, a container mast or attachments such as a clamp or fork positioner. A lower price usually means an older machine or higher hours. Neither is automatically the better buy. It depends on how hard the forklift will work.

What to check before you buy a used forklift

Whoever you buy from, these are the things worth checking. We’re happy to go through each of them with you on any forklift in our yard.

  • Hours and service history. Ask for the hour meter reading and what has been serviced or replaced. Hours alone don’t tell the whole story. A higher-hour forklift that has been serviced regularly can be a better buy than a lower-hour one that hasn’t.
  • Hydraulics. Look for leaks around hoses, cylinders and fittings.
  • Mast, lift chains and forks. Check for mast play, stretched chains, and cracked or bent forks.
  • Brakes, steering and tyres. Drive it if you can. Check the brakes, steering response and tyre wear.
  • Safety devices. Lights, horn, seatbelt and warning devices should all work.
  • Battery, charger and leads (electric). Ask about the battery’s age and condition, and check the charger comes with the forklift.
  • Who stands behind it. A warranty and a local service team matter more than the lowest sticker price.

These are the same areas our technicians cover in a regular forklift service. Ask us what work has been done on the forklift you’re looking at before you commit.

Up to a 3-year warranty

Our used forklifts come with up to a 3-year warranty. The warranty that applies depends on the forklift, so ask us about the terms on the specific unit you’re interested in, and we’ll confirm it before you buy.

Because we service and repair forklifts as well as sell them, the warranty is backed by our own service team in Melbourne. If something needs attention, you’re dealing with the same people you bought the forklift from.

Finance available

Finance is available on forklift sales, so you can spread the cost rather than paying the full amount up front. We have different finance options. Call 1300 326 654 to talk through what would suit your business and the forklift you’re looking at.

If you only need a forklift for a short job or a busy season, forklift hire from $30/day + GST may suit better than buying.

Delivery across Melbourne

We deliver used forklifts across Melbourne and regional Victoria from our Werribee and Epping yards. Delivery is quoted up front, with the price of the forklift, so you know the full cost before you commit.

Our yards are in the west and north, close to Melbourne’s main industrial areas, including Werribee, Truganina, Derrimut, Laverton, Laverton North, Ravenhall, Sunshine West, Tullamarine, Broadmeadows, Campbellfield and Reservoir. We also hire forklifts in these suburbs.

Service and repairs after you buy

We service and repair all makes and models of forklift, specialising in Toyota, and we come to your site anywhere in Melbourne. Our forklift service special is $345 + GST for gas, petrol and electric forklifts up to 3t. We try to diagnose faults over the phone first and quote before we come out.

A regular service picks up wear early, like a weeping hydraulic hose, a stretched lift chain or soft brakes, and it builds a service record, which matters when you later sell or trade the machine. See forklift service and repair for details.

Buy or hire?

If you need a forklift every day for years, buying usually makes sense. You own the asset, and a good used forklift with a warranty and regular servicing can give you years of work. If you need one for a short job, a peak period or while you work out what you need, hire lets you use a forklift without the upfront cost. We do both, so we’ll tell you honestly which one fits.
