When it comes to all-around options, LPG gas forklifts provide value for money and versatility for a range of jobs.
Primarily, LPG gas forklifts boast several key improvements over petrol, diesel and electric options as well. Firstly, they are generally more compact in design and can manoeuvre into spaces more bulky machines cannot.
Their design is different from other models as well, usually made with engines that are derivatives of car engines – which means not only are they affordable to purchase, but parts are cheaper to source.
Additionally, they are also quieter and have a strong power to weight ratio because of their streamlined design and engine. Add to that the ability for a single tank of LPG gas to provide up to 10 hours of continuous operation, and there’s plenty to love about them.
The versatility of these vehicles means that they can be used indoors (in warehouses or tighter spaces like storage containers) and outdoors alike. Additionally, they are powerful due to their low weight and responsive engines. But that doesn’t mean they are limited in the loads they can carry.
Damoli has plenty of options available, including the Toyota Container and Standard Mast models that are capable of hauling up to 3.5 tonnes. There’s also the iconic Toyota OPAL and the Crown Pallet Mover – equipped with the ability to shift three tonnes at a time.
Most LPG models will power through the entire working day on a single gas cylinder, whereas electric models require hours of charging time. This means they often strike the perfect balance between power, the economy of fuel and cleaner emissions. And not to mention all at an attractive price point.
These vehicles use a specialised form of LPG, which is designed for forklifts and other industrial equipment. These cylinders come in 15kg and 18kg cylinders, which can be used for a full day’s work, depending on the size of the machine, the loads it is carrying and how many hours it is in use.
The primary ingredient is propane – a transportation fuel that is cleaner and cheaper than petrol. This provides a higher-octane rating than autogas, which is a combination of propane and butane. As a result, you end up with a cleaner fuel that enhances the performance of industrial vehicles.
Note: A standard 15kg-cylinder typically contains almost two litres.
